About the Book:
Sly! is nonsense goosed with what appears to be a ton of truthful detail. Take the history with a grain of salt. I’ve fudged facts. I’ve embellished. I’ve combed history books for outrageous material and pushed it to the limit. I've culled tasty terms from obscure sea adventures and woven my scavenged bits into the narrative so that it sounds like I know what I'm talking about. I don’t. I’ve not been to sea on a square-rigger and, while I’m ancient, I wasn’t around in 1585. Sly! the saga is an intricately plotted chronicle of misery and mayhem, every bit as ridiculous as I could make it. Sly the critter is a brat, an annoying know-it-all, but also a genuine scholar, particularly fascinated by scientific advances, but interested in everything the world has to offer. You’ll giggle at what the nutcake has to say on matters of universal concern, five hundred years ago right down to the present day.
About the Author:
Mimi Speike's work is smart, sly, and gloriously silly. But, what genre is it? That's a tough one. Screwball Fantasy with Philosophical Pretensions comes close.
I'm posting chapter one. Two and three will follow. The rest needs a major overhaul. I need to rework a plot which has gotten away from me. I expect I'll have to kill off a few of my dirtbags in order to untangle a God-awful mess. What a shame! They're, every one of them, really delightful. By the way, Sly Boots is my quirky reinvigoration of a nursery favorite, Puss-in-Boots.
